Last month, I had the privilege of staying at one of Paris’s most romantic Palace hotels, the Shangri-La, Paris.
“From the moment you arrive at this former imperial residence of Prince Roland Bonaparte, the Eiffel Tower becomes a constant, quietly magnificent presence, framed in your window, glittering from your breakfast table, and visible from the garden from morning until late into the night.” Ilonka Molijn

Shangri-La, Paris
The Room — and That View
We stayed in one of the Eiffel Tower-facing rooms, and there are no words that do the view adequate justice. The king bed in our room was genuinely enormous; I’m not exaggerating when I say it could comfortably sleep three. It’s worth noting that not every room at the Shangri-La features beds this size, so if bed size matters to you, please let me know. The hotel also offers excellent connecting room configurations, ideal for families traveling with children or multigenerational families.
Breakfast: When a Smoothie Person Orders Truffle
I am, by nature, a smoothie-and-yogurt breakfast person. At the Shangri-La, I sat down for a three-course breakfast complete with truffles. I have no regrets. The breakfast spread is the kind that makes you reconsider your entire morning routine.
The Garden — Especially in May
The hotel’s inner courtyard is one of those spaces that makes you want to cancel your afternoon plans. In May, when we visited, it was in full bloom, immaculate, peaceful, and completely at odds with the fact that you are a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe. If you are planning a trip, late spring is an exceptional time to experience it.
The Pool and Sun Terrace
The indoor pool is a quiet, well-designed retreat, connected to a beautiful sun terrace that catches the afternoon light.
Location: Residential, Refined, and Surprisingly Central
The Shangri-La sits in a quiet residential neighborhood, which, after a long day in Paris, feels like an exhale. Yet the location is far more practical than the calm surroundings suggest.
The Champs-Élysées, Avenue Montaigne, and the Arc de Triomphe are all within comfortable walking distance. A few minutes on foot brings you to Girafe, one of Paris’s most visually positioned restaurants with its own unobstructed Eiffel Tower views. We dined there during our stay, and the combination of that terrace and the food made it a memorable meal.

Bookings
If you’re planning a stay at the Shangri-La Paris, booking through a preferred partner makes a meaningful difference. As a member of the Shangri-La Luxury Circle (via 360 Private Travel), an invite-only preferred partner program, I can offer benefits that aren’t available directly from the hotel or on third-party booking sites.
These include a guaranteed room upgrade at the time of booking (yes, that means Eiffel Tower views are secure from the start), a hotel credit, daily breakfast, and additional perks, subject to availability. If you’d like me to handle your reservation, get in touch, and I’ll take care of everything.
