Imagine a pristine, dolphin-shaped island in the Red Sea, where white-sand beaches meet coral reefs, eco-friendly design meets ultra-luxury, and families can explore both adventure and cultural grace.

That place is Shura Island—the centerpiece of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Project—and its first wave of resorts and infrastructure promises a blend of true luxury, environmental care, and new-frontier experiences.

What’s Opening First

  • SLS The Red Sea — ~150 rooms and villas, including both overwater and beachfront accommodations. The programming will mix wellness, culture, and leisure
  • The Red Sea EDITION — ~240 rooms, 53 of which are suites. Features include spa services, multiple dining venues, water sports, and access to golf.
  • InterContinental The Red Sea Resort — ~178 rooms and 32 suites, with five different dining options, a spa, and design inspired by coral reefs.
  • Also debuting is Shura Links, the Kingdom’s first island golf course, an 18-hole championship layout with strong sustainability measures built into its design

Over the coming months, an additional eight luxury resorts are expected to open: Faena, Fairmont, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah, Miraval, Raffles, and Rosewood.

Getting There

Guests will arrive by boat into the island’s marina or by electric vehicle over the Shura crossing, which includes the country’s longest internal bridge.

The main entry point is Red Sea International Airport (RSI), which already accommodates domestic and international flights. Starting next month, Qatar Airways will initiate a direct three-times-weekly service.

Looking Ahead

When fully built out, Shura Island will host 11 luxury resorts, all designed by Foster + Partners under the “Coral Bloom” design concept—meaning architectural form and layout are inspired by coral reefs and natural aquatic forms.
