Possibly the most beautiful science museum in Europe featuring a mini Amazon rainforest, a planetarium, and interactive activities for children.
CosmoCaixa offers regular workshops for children throughout the year such as Toca Toca, where kids get the chance to touch different creatures, Click, an interactive exhibit of touch, smell, and discovery for ages 3 to 6 years and Flash, a scientific interactive activity for kids aged 7 to 9 years. Inside the museum, there is a geological wall made from 90 tons of rock, and the rainforest has its own alligators, snakes, and birds. The newly opened planetarium offers different shows during the day.
Egyptian Museum
The Museum itself is over 2,000 square meters in size and is organized into three main exhibition areas. It also boasts a monographic collection on Ancient Egypt that is one of the best in Europe. The museum offers workshops for children and teenagers at the weekend and during holidays where kids can learn more about the land of the Pharaohs.
Barcelona Aquarium
Considered the largest of its kind in Europe and offers an impressive range of marine life, the Barcelona Aquarium is a great choice for a family day out. The Aquarium organizes workshops for kids that are free with admission and run at different times throughout the day. You need to sign up for these on the day of your visit.

Fundació Joan Miro
The bright, bold, and vivid colors of Catalan artist Joan Miró are very appealing to children which makes the Fundació Joan Miró a good choice of an art gallery to head to with kids. The foundation also has a program of children’s workshops and family shows at the weekends. The location of the gallery on the hill of Montjuic means that you can fit in a cultural stop whilst on a day out exploring the parks of Barcelona’s hill or combine it with a visit to the Olympic stadium and museum.
The ongoing Miró en Familia activity is an opportunity to explore the exhibitions armed with a printed guide tailored to families. Children from 5-10 years old, accompanied by an adult, can collect the information at reception (in Catalan or Spanish).
Magic Fountains
The Font Màgica is an unmissable musical show featuring water fountains and colored lights that make a wonderful after-dark treat for children.
Situated between Plaza Espanya and the Palau Nacional (home to the MNAC gallery), the fountains were created in 1929 for the World Exhibition and are a popular attraction in Barcelona. The shows run every 30 minutes with 15-minute breaks with times varying according to the time of year. You can watch the show from various points, on the steps of the MNAC gallery, or in the various areas around the fountains. If you want a close-up view on a windy day, prepare to get a little wet! Parc del Laberint d’Horta
The Garden is the oldest of all those in Barcelona and a superb example of cultured and carefully manicured landscaping. The park includes a romantic garden with big trees and even a waterfall. In gardens are 55 hectares partially following the Gusto by neoclassical gardens, decorated with mythological sculptures.
Within the park is the “Sovereign Tower”, a former farmhouse of the fourteenth century, restored and redecorated in arabesque style during the nineteenth century. The vegetable labyrinth formed by trimmed cypress trees, the park is named and is a meeting place and recreation for all those, young and old, who come to this lovely place at Tibidabo Mountain.
